Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) intends to remove the existing categories on the reverse of Con 40 and Con 40G to indicate which share transactions are exempt from Stamp Duty and which share transactions are subject to the payment of Stamp Duty and has replaced the current wording with a new certificate.
These amendments are due to new provisions in the Finance Act 2008 which will insert a new paragraph in Schedule 13 of the Finance Act 1999 and will come into force after the Chancellor of the Exchequer has made his Budget speech on 12th March.
More detailed information about these changes will be available on the 2008 Budget pages of HMRC’s website at www.hmrc.gov.uk under “Supplementary Documents”.
AMENDED FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 13th MARCH BUT HMRC MAY PROCESS EXISTING VERSIONS OF THESE FORMS FOR A LIMITED PERIOD AFTER 12TH MARCH.
