Fourth edition of the Standard Conditions of Sale

•A fourth edition of the Standard Conditions of Sale will be jointly published by Oyez and the Law Society following the Joint Working Party’s consideration of the effect upon SCS1 and SCS2 of the Land Registry Act 2002 and the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002. 
 
•A set of Explanatory Notes will be distributed with all initial orders placed with us for the fourth edition of SCS1. 
 
•We understand that an article explaining the background to these amendments may appear in October’s edition of the Law Society’s Gazette. 
 
•Con 14E has also been amended to reflect the new terminology adopted in respect of the new editions of SCS1 and SCS2. 
 
•The fourth edition of SCS1 will be printed on blue paper to distinguish it from the previous edition. 
 
THE THIRD EDITION OF SCS1 AND SCS2 SHOULD NOT BE USED ON OR AFTER 13TH OCTOBER 2003. THE FOURTH EDITION OF SCS1 AND SCS2 AND THE AMENDED VERSION OF CON 14E WILL BE AVAILABLE BY THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER BUT SHOULD NOT BE USED BEFORE 13TH OCTOBER.
