Petitioner and the Respondent Names on Divorce Petitions

The Court Service has amended the heading at the top of these Divorce Petition forms to ensure that the names of the Petitioner and the Respondent are the same as appears on their marriage certificate or else the parties must provide reasons for any change of name since their marriage.  
 
The reference to the court’s jurisdiction under a European Union Council regulation has also been altered and the notes which accompany Divorce forms 1-5 and Divorce 6 have also been amended to reflect these procedural changes. 
 
In addition, the notes which accompany Divorce 6 have also been modified to take account of an application for annulment under the Gender Recognition Act 2004. 
 
AMENDED FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE TOWARDS THE END OF MARCH BUT SHOULD NOT BE USED BEFORE 4th APRIL. CURRENT FORMS SHOULD NOT BE USED AFTER THIS DATE.
