Paper Forms Editorial

Range: Licensing

Temporary Event Notice

As part of its reform of the 1964 licensing legislation, the Government has laid new regulations before Parliament which prescribe the form to be used to give notice of a temporary event at which alcohol will be provided.

The event must not exceed 96 hours and the user of the premises must submit this notice to the local licensing authority.

The new form is accompanied by guidance notes which will help practitioners to complete them on behalf of their clients.

THIS NEW FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE LATER THIS MONTH BUT CANNOT BE USED BEFORE 24TH NOVEMBER.

The Licensing Act (2003) (Second Appointed Day) Order 2005 confirms that 24th November will be the second appointed day under the 2003 Licensing Act. Licensing practitioners cannot use their old forms under the Licensing Act 1964 after this date and instead must use the new Licensing Act 2003 forms which were advertised on OFIS 8 in March.
